Freezer Meal Hints

Lessons learned from our group:

- Each of us will prepare a main dish: Bring 10 "packages" of 6-servings each (to accomodate larger and smaller families)

- Suggested packaging: freezer ziploc bags or disposable foil pans

- Make sure each meal is labeled and dated and includes instructions on preparing the dish for eating

- Bring (or e-mail) the actual recipe you are making (so we can make them again ourselves later!)

- Since ours is a daytime group, kids are more than welcome to come :)


Other helpful hints:

- Avoid high sodium recipes, since the salt will lower the freezing point, so the food is not as safely frozen
- Don't put frozen dishes into a hot oven
- Cool food before freezing
- Cook meat thoroughly (not halfway) before freezing
